In addition to responding to reports from the community regarding children who may be in need of protection, the team also assesses requests for supports to families who are struggling with parenting their children. Families experiencing extreme stress that is negatively impacting the family and who are in need of help may call for support.
Program Information
Services for families whose children are residing in the parental home, through: referrals to community services including support groups, treatment/counseling, parenting classes or support services agreements for child care, youth programs, child and youth care workers, and respite; and services to parents requiring temporary and voluntary care for their children while attending treatment or care and no other alternate caregiver such as relatives or friends are able to assist. Parents who require such temporary care for their children may be assisted under the Extended Family Program, Voluntary Care Agreements and Special Needs Agreements.
